Come and join a well-established Company who since 1986, has processed herbs, chillies and fresh produce for the UK food industry. They grow the finest quality herbs in Worcester and their offices are based in Pershore. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Assistant Production Manager Reporting to: Production Manager Purpose/scope of the job: To assist the Production Manager in the smooth processing of customer orders through administrative, production, dispatch then to transportation according to the requirements of the customer and the Quality Management System. To support the Production Manager to ensure staffing levels and training are adequate to provide safe, economic and quality production. Ensure senior management, parallel functions including staff are properly informed through documentation, record keeping and meetings to facilitate the smooth operation of the Company. Main Duties Liaise with the Production Manager and the Quality and Technical Manager on all herb raw material requirements as necessary. Review all process documentation on a daily basis ensuring compliance with expectations and determining, implementing and measuring corrective actions as necessary. Support stock checks and other data collection, relevant to the timely preparation of monthly accounts when required Responsible for ensuring that product and material traceability is maintained at all times. Implement and maintain conformance to Quality System and HACCP requirements for all processes by training of staff and monitoring their performance methods and results. Control all chemicals on site according to COSHH requirements and the relevant sections of the Company Hygiene Manual. Train staff as necessary and monitor their performance and process documentation. Maintain production staff levels, recruitment and probationary periods when required. Support staff training and personnel records seeking support where necessary. To liaise with the HR Department in order to control sickness and absence through personnel procedures and to ensure adequate cover for requirements at all times. Ensure completion of hygiene schedules as documented in the Company hygiene manual, and through appropriate monitoring and liaison with Quality & Technical Manager, ensure their continuing effectiveness, adapting the system, as necessary. Ensure the smooth running of the laundry requirements. To be an effective member of the Production Management Team; supporting all production processes whilst constantly reviewing department practices. To seek out and recommend continuous improvement methods to enhance the service provided. Internal auditing of compliance to the Quality Management System of all areas for which the job holder has no direct responsibility. Ensuring each department operates in line with the procedures in the quality manuals as facility to the BRC, M&S and other industry standards. Represent production and Health and Safety matters at in-house meetings when required. Accompany non-company personnel around the premises and Quality System when required to do so. To be fully aware of the company’s Food safety and Quality Policy ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with legislation, specified procedures and working practices. Housekeeping standards are maintained internally and externally at all times Experience, skills, and attributes required for the Assistant Production Manager: Previous experience in production management and planning within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management System principles. Good Manufacturing Practice and the concepts of “Due Diligence” and “All Reasonable Precautions”. Working knowledge of current, relevant food legislation. Ability to determine and implement quality system procedures. Ability to interpret quality system data and determine, implement and measure corrective action. Strong Microsoft Office skills is essential for this role Excellent multi-level communication and people management skills with understanding of Company disciplinary system and its application. Ability to enfranchise, motivate and produce results from direct and non-direct report staff. Customer Focus Teamwork The salary for this position is between £32k to £35K depending on experience. You will receive 30 days' holiday (including 8 bank holidays). The standard hours are an 8 hour day from Monday to Friday.
