Naval Architect
Our client is an international Security and Defence contractor with strong ties to the UK Government. We are looking for enthusiastic marine professionals to help our client deliver their growing portfolio of work.
High-calibre, experienced candidates with a proven track record of naval architecture or marine engineering technical leadership in the commercial or defence sectors should apply.
We are looking specifically for individuals with experience of hydrodynamic model testing and analysis with a positive and dynamic approach who can take ownership of challenging, and varied projects.
Plan and lead the technical delivery of programmes of work, such as hydrodynamic simulations/experiments of ships and submarines in support of design and operation.
Breakdown complex tasks and then execute the planned schedule of work.
Work with project managers to track progress, assign tasks and supervise the technical delivery team
Participate in business development activities through engagement with customers and provision of technical delivery plans and resource requirements to the bidding team
Act as a peer or independent reviewer for other projects or programmes of work, where suitable
Deliver technical presentations in external forums, such as conferences and customer meetings Essential experience of the Naval Architect:
You will need an excellent understanding of engineering, equivalent to someone who has completed a BEng/MEng in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering
Understanding of marine hydrodynamics, or aerodynamics
Knowledge of data analysis, including experience of programming (e.g. Matlab) is desirable
Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) is desirable
Experience with Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry desirable (Stereo PIV) NB. Applicants must be eligible to obtain UK government security clearance
