Enims is expanding. We are proud to work with a diverse range of clients on projects that are both challenging and rewarding. As we establish new work streams in Kent, we are excited to welcome a Consultant or Senior Ecologist who will play a key role in supporting our growth in this region. No two days here are ever the same: our projects are varied, dynamic, and always exciting.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Consultant or Senior Ecologist to join our team on a remote basis, with regular attendance at our Kent head office. This role offers the flexibility of remote working while ensuring strong collaboration with colleagues and clients in Kent.

As a Consultant / Senior Ecologist at Enims, you will:

* Undertake and lead ecological surveys, assessments, and monitoring programmes.

* Deliver Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) strategies and embed them into project design and delivery.

* Contribute to habitat creation, landscape design, and management plans.

* Collaborate with colleagues and clients to establish and grow new work streams in Kent.

* Support project delivery from scoping through to reporting, recommendations, design implementation, and monitoring.

* Undertake regular travel to project sites, often covering significant distances, as a core part of the role. Flexibility, resilience, and readiness to travel are essential to supporting clients and delivering projects on the ground.

* Complete mandatory training to ensure professional standards and compliance are consistently upheld.

* (Senior level) Mentor junior colleagues and provide leadership on complex projects.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

* Has a strong background in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.

* Brings practical experience in ecological surveys, assessments, monitoring, and BNG delivery.

* Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a car.

* Is pragmatic, adaptable, and able to balance technical rigour with practical solutions.

* Is hardworking, dedicated, and passionate about ecology and sustainable landscape design.

* Thrives on variety and enjoys working on projects where no two days are ever the same — always exciting, always inspiring.

* Is comfortable working remotely while maintaining strong connections with the Kent head office and wider team.

* (Senior level) Has significant experience and is motivated to lead, mentor, and shape outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will:

* Have previous ecology experience, preferably in consultancy but able to demonstrate ability to work in a fast paced environmental role
* Will have excellent Health and Safety understanding and be prepared to undertake and participate in regular health and safety training.
* Hold a BSc in relevant subject as a minimum
* Hold full UK Driving Licence and have a car and be willing to use it and to drive to multiple sites and locations.
* Be willing to attend site and undertake field work within the UK
* Have a willingness to learn and to develop skills and undertake training
* Have good IT skills, be confident using Office 365 (including outlook) and a cloud based system
* Hold a CSCS card
* Be a full or associate member of CIEEM
* Have Strong knowledge of wildlife legislation and the relevance to the work we do
* Have a strong client facing approach with a drive to develop and build on working relationships
* Be willing to develop more business and develop contacts and actively seek opportunities for work opportunities
* Have experience with BNG conditions assessments, UK habitats assessments and protected species surveys
* Hold Natural England Protected Species Licence ( more than one would be advantageous)
* Experience of leading on projects and managing case load of projects with excellent client focus and being able to have a pragmatic and timely approach.
* Have an in-depth understanding of highways and/ or rail works, and management of environmental side of projects in relation to highways and rail
* Dedicated and committed to the continued development of enims and of your skills and expertise and career in order to continually provide the highest of standards to our clients
* You will have a positive attitude to work and willingness to be a team player and understand the importance of delivering high quality work.
* You will be able to comfortably work independently as a representative of enims
* You will be able to work with both internal expert's and specialist sub-contractors competently. You will be an excellent team member and be willing to support others in the team and work as part of a team at all times.
* You will have a keen interest in all round ecology
* You will be a friendly, supportive individual who will fit into our friendly, supportive and caring team
