PE Teacher (Physical Education)
Contract Type: Full Time, Temporary
Start Date: 16/03/2026
Location: Enfield, London
Salary: £37,868 – £56,154 per year
Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary of £56,154 is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established secondary school in Enfield, rated “Good” by Ofsted (2024), for a PE Teacher to join their dedicated Physical Education department.

This full-time role starting March 2026 offers a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher to inspire students and promote a strong culture of participation, teamwork and wellbeing through sport.

The school has a diverse community of around 1,200 pupils aged 11–19 and is known for its supportive environment and strong focus on student development.

This role would be particularly well suited to a female PE teacher, as the department is keen to further encourage high participation in girls’ sport.

The successful candidate will teach PE across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 and extracurricular sport depending on experience.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be currently completing teacher training

• Strong subject knowledge across a range of sports and physical activities

• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

• Experience teaching secondary PE during training or previous roles

• A passion for promoting participation, teamwork and healthy lifestyles

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging PE lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

• Promote confidence, teamwork and active participation in sport

• Support students in achieving strong GCSE PE outcomes

• Encourage strong participation in girls’ sport and physical activity

• Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement

• Support students’ confidence, resilience and wellbeing

• Lead extracurricular clubs, fixtures and competitions

• Contribute to school sporting events and enrichment activities

• Attend department meetings, CPD sessions and parents’ evenings
