Job Title: Cleaner
Location: KDC North West Office, Huyton
Reports to: Corporate Services Manager
Hours: Part-time: 4 hours per week (Tuesday and Friday)
Salary: £13 per hour (£2,704 per annum)
Job Purpose:
To maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across all areas of the KDC North West office, including the hall, front office, meeting room, kitchen, toilets, and main office, in accordance with the organisation's cleaning schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Weekly Duties:
* Clean entrance mats and remove finger marks from entrance doors.
* Empty all waste bins and dispose of rubbish in appropriate external bins (general waste, recycling).
* Dust furniture and vacuum carpeted floors.
* Mop all hard floors.
* Fully clean and disinfect all toilets, including:
* Brushing and washing floors.
* Cleaning toilet seats, bowls, urinals, and sinks.
* Replenishing toilet supplies.
* Wipe down and disinfect kitchen units.
* Clean microwaves and fridges.
* Remove marks and spillages from doors, switches, glass screens, and cupboards.
Monthly Duties:
* Polish or damp wipe furniture, ledges, cabinets, and skirtings (excluding removal of papers/files).
* Wipe clean and disinfect telephones.
* Dust keyboards, monitors, and photocopiers.
* High dusting of ledges, lintels, and surfaces up to normal ceiling height.
* Wash and disinfect toilet tiles and partitions.
* Clean internal windows.
Annual Duties:
* Deep clean carpets (as requested).
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a cleaning role.
* Knowledge of cleaning products and safe usage.
* Ability to work independently and follow a set schedule.
* Understanding of COSHH regulations
* Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene.
* Certificates in aspects of cleaning
Certificates
* COSHH Awareness Certificate required
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health – essential for understanding how to safely use and store cleaning chemicals.
* Health and Safety in the Workplace (Level 1 or 2) required
Covers general safety practices, risk awareness, and accident prevention.
* Manual Handling Training required
Important for safely lifting bins, moving furniture, or handling equipment.
* Infection Prevention and Control Certificate required
Particularly relevant given the emphasis on disinfecting toilets, kitchens, and high-touch surfaces.
* Fire Safety Awareness required
Useful for understanding evacuation procedures and safe practices around fire exits and equipment.
* Basic First Aid (Optional but Beneficial)
Not essential, but helpful in case of minor accidents or emergencies.
Desirable:
* Experience in cleaning office or community spaces.
Additional Information:
* All cleaning tasks must be carried out with care and respect for office equipment and confidential materials.
* Cleaning supplies and PPE will be provided.
