Assistant Farm Manager - Little Kelk / Eastmoor. Temporary Position – Until 28th February 2026. This role will cover two farms: Little Kelk and Eastmoor. Avara Foods is a leading UK food business supplying chicken and turkey to major supermarkets and restaurants. We own and manage our entire supply chain from farms to factory to customers’ doors.

We’re seeking a highly motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join our team, based at Little Kelk and Eastmoor. This is a farm-based, hands-on role in a busy environment where hygiene and biosecurity are of utmost importance.

* Monday to Sunday (6 days per week)

What you’ll be doing
As Assistant Farm Manager, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day operations on a modern company farm. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the welfare and performance of our livestock, alongside maintaining high standards across the site.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining optimum environmental conditions for bird welfare and biosecurity
* Feeding, vaccinating, and grading birds
* Overseeing site maintenance and ensuring company standards are met
* Supervising staff and contractors, ensuring Health & Safety compliance
* Maintaining accurate records in line with UK legislation and Avara policies
* Managing farm costs effectively
* Upholding exceptional animal welfare, hygiene, and husbandry standards
* Supporting operations on other farms when needed
* Covering for the Farm Manager during absence
* Reporting directly to the Farm Manager
What We’re Looking For
* Own transport is essential – travel between multiple sites is essential
* Previous livestock experience (poultry preferred but not essential)
* NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Poultry Production or Agriculture (desirable – full training provided)
* Strong communication and people skills
* A willingness to learn and self-motivation
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete manual tasks
* Basic IT skills
