Graduate Hotels is seeking an Assistant Director of Sales to join Graduate by Hilton Cambridge and its talented team of hospitality professionals!

The 148-bedroom Graduate Cambridge hotel is part of the Graduate Hotels collection, inspired by the prestigious University of Cambridge and its surrounding town. Located on the River Cam, in the heart of Cambridge's historic centre, the hotel reflects the university's architecture and spirit.


THE ROLE

As an Assistant Director of Sales, you will provide strategic leadership in proactive sales planning, execution, and team development to maximize revenue across corporate, group, leisure, and other key segments. You will work closely with the Director of Sales and Events, General Manager, and Revenue team to align strategies, retain business, and drive revenue growth.


YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and implement proactive sales strategies in collaboration with the Director of Sales & Events and Revenue Manager to meet business objectives and drive sales across all segments.
2. Analyze sales performance regularly to maximize revenue growth.
3. Lead and manage the proactive sales team, ensuring both current and future business needs are met. Collaborate with the General Manager, Revenue, and RDOS to align sales strategies and activities.
4. Foster a proactive sales culture through incentives, recognition, and addressing areas for improvement.
5. Maintain and grow relationships with key local customers and accounts.
6. Coach and mentor the sales team through regular meetings, training, and performance reviews.
7. Identify and target new business opportunities, expanding corporate accounts through research and relationship-building.
8. Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
9. Create and execute sales plans aligned with commercial strategy.
10. Handle negotiations and contracts via Delphi, Lanyon, Cvent, and RFP processes.
11. Support the team in converting key opportunities and increase hotel awareness through networking and collaboration with the sales team.
12. Review demand calendar and pricing, taking actions to fill gaps during low-demand periods.
13. Monitor budgets and promote upselling of products and services.
14. Develop sales initiatives that increase occupancy, rates, volume, and F&B sales.
15. Lead recruitment, training, and ongoing development of the proactive sales team.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

1. Minimum 2 years of hotel sales management experience.
2. Proficiency with OnQ PMS and Delphi (desirable).
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
4. Effective stakeholder management skills.
5. Experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff.
6. Proven ability to deliver strategies and meet targets.
7. Knowledge of hospitality forecasting, pricing, and inventory control.
8. Strong analytical skills to interpret business data and trends.
9. Excellent customer relationship management and negotiation skills.
10. Understanding of revenue management, account profitability, and RFP processes.
11. Proficiency in CRM and MS Office applications.
