This vacancy offers a genuinely exciting opportunity to join the leadership team of a highly performing and well regarded team, the Trauma and Orthopaedics service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The DPPM supports the Patient Pathway Manager (PPM) and Directorate Management Team (Clinical Director, Matron, Directorate Manager, and Service Manager) in the efficient and effective operational management of the Clinical Administration Team (CAT 5) service in order to deliver continually improving, high quality patient care.
The Deputy Patient Pathway Manager (DPPM) will provide support and expert knowledge to the Clinical Admin Team for Trauma and Orthopaedics and have a real opportunity to improve the care received by our patients
The DPPM has delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities working autonomously using initiative and their specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions.
Main duties of the job
To support the Patient Pathway Manager and Directorate Senior Management Team (Clinical Lead, Matron, and Directorate Manager) in the efficient and effective operational management of your respective service/s in order to deliver continually improving, high quality patient care.
To provide support and expert knowledge to the team of patient pathway coordinators and associated roles within the admin team.
Delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities (in the absence of the PPM), working autonomously using initiative and their specialist knowledge and experience of the service to make decisions.
Assist with the delivery of the daily operational business of the designated service area as well as contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans.
To assist with overseeing all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective, patient-focused service to be delivered.
To ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, to help ensure the achievement of all performance targets.
In the absence of the Patient Pathway Manager, the Deputy Patient Pathway Manager will be responsible for providing regular updates on performance and the escalation of issues which hinder the delivery of a smooth patient pathway to the Directorate Management Team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to A-level, or NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration/Customer Care or acquired equivalent experience
* GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C
* Educated to degree or equivalent experience/qualification
Experience
* Supervisory experience of administrative staff
* Knowledge of CAT patient pathways
* Thorough knowledge of healthcare administrative systems and processes
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Advanced use of EPR with the ability to interrogate the system
