Overview
The Intelligence Technical Officer role is within the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit. You will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence‑led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to develop an understanding of Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promoting the use and benefits of Memex, improving the quality of intelligence submitted. Key duties include providing face‑to‑face training on MEMEX, supporting area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, supervising intelligence logs to maintain high submission quality, creating entities from Memex submissions, and providing regular performance reports with feedback on improvements. Other duties commensurate with the role.
We are fully committed to an inclusive workforce and welcome flexible working patterns for all vacancies, including job share. Please clearly include any information regarding your preferred working arrangements on your application. Responding to incidents is a central part of our work. You will be required to have an incident role and to make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training; alternative working arrangements will be available to support your incident role.
The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. It is made up of several roles and disciplines, and we work with partners to drive an intelligence‑led approach to tackling environmental crime across regimes. The team provides a professional and timely service and focuses on continuous improvement to meet customer needs.
