Technical Project Manager – Water & Wastewater Sector\n\nLocation: Reading / Hybrid (occasional site visits)\n\nType: Contract – Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)\n\nAbout the Role\n\nCeto Talent are recruiting for our client, seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day planning and delivery of multiple engineering projects within the water and wastewater sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of critical infrastructure projects, ensuring they’re delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.\n\nIn this role, you’ll apply your engineering expertise and leadership skills to drive delivery excellence, coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead and manage the planning and execution of engineering projects, aligned with agreed scope, schedule, and budget.\n\n * Prepare clear and effective technical and commercial documentation to support project objectives and procurement processes.\n\n * Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, while proactively seeking opportunities to add value.\n\n * Ensure all project activities comply with agreed methodologies, standards, and quality assurance procedures.\n\n * Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to integrate technical expertise into project delivery.\n\n * Provide regular, transparent reporting to programme teams and senior stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.\n\nSkills & Experience\n\n * Extensive postgraduate experience in a relevant engineering discipline, including recent experience in the water industry.\n\n * Extensive leadership experience managing teams of 10+ people in complex environments.\n\n * Strong ability to deliver thought leadership and strategic oversight, with a handson approach to execution.\n\n * Skilled at reviewing and signing off technical team outputs before submission.\n\n * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of producing highquality technical and commercial documentation.\n\n * Proficient in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.\n\n * Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with a balance of diplomacy and assertiveness.\n\n * Customercentric mindset with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure.\n\nQualifications & Certifications\n\n * Degreelevel qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.\n\n * Chartered Status or equivalent, with membership of a relevant professional institution (preferred).\n\n * Certifications such as Prince2, PMQ, or MSP Practitioner are desirable.\n\nWhy Apply?\n\nThis is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact on vital water infrastructure projects, working within a collaborative and innovative environment that values technical excellence.\n\nInterested?\n\nCeto Talent are proud to be recruiting for this role on behalf of our client.
