Senior Planner – Cardiff
Senior Planner role in a leading planning consultancy, working on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed‑use, and strategic projects across Wales and the UK. The successful candidate will contribute to project delivery and enjoy career progression in a collaborative environment.
As a Senior Planner you will manage planning projects from initial appraisal through submission, negotiation, and determination, working closely with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to provide strategic planning advice and support successful delivery.
Ideal for someone with 3‑5 years of planning experience looking to advance their career in a dynamic consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planning applications and appeals across a range of development sectors
- Preparing planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation
- Undertaking site assessments and development feasibility studies
- Providing planning advice to clients on development opportunities and planning strategy
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and key stakeholders
- Managing client relationships and attending project meetings
- Supporting junior team members where appropriate
- Assisting with business development and networking activities
What We’re Looking For
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified or actively working towards Chartership
- Approximately 3-5 years of planning experience
- Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority environment
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and project management abilities
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
