Senior Litigation Solicitor, Belfast
Suit 7 years + PQE, Up to £65k.
Our client is a National law firm with an excellent reputation based in Belfast City Centre. They are seeking an experienced Solicitor for their Personal Injury team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within the Belfast Team handling large loss claims.
You will assist the lead lawyer with complex, high-value High Court cases, including casualty, motor claims, and catastrophic injury cases. You will also manage your own caseload of claims valued between £100k-£250k. Experience with indemnity, liability, and complex medical issues is preferred, and excellent attention to detail is essential.
Your work will be supervised, and feedback will be provided. The role involves engaging with sophisticated senior claims handlers in long-standing insurance clients.
Key Accountabilities
1. Work as part of a team progressing each file from receipt of papers from the insurer client to resolution.
2. Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and catastrophic injury claims involving brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and fatal claims.
3. Communicate with insurer clients, handle queries, and provide updates.
4. Analyze quantum evidence, prepare chronologies, identify anomalies, and review evidence from various sources.
5. Use knowledge of injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records and instruct medical experts.
6. Critically analyze liability evidence and identify gaps.
7. Draft concise technical advice on claim handling, including indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues.
8. Identify next steps, discuss with the Lead Lawyer, and act accordingly.
9. Interview witnesses and draft statements.
10. Liaise with parties involved in claims.
11. Draft pleadings and applications.
12. Instruct counsel and attend conferences, mediations, and court hearings as required.
13. Attend court in person or remotely, including trials and settlement conferences.
14. Meet performance targets and quality standards.
15. Delegate tasks to Legal Assistants or Paralegals and support their development.
16. Maintain case management systems with up-to-date information.
17. Ensure compliance with LSNI regulations.
Essential Skills and Attributes
* Qualified solicitor or relevant legal experience.
