Senior Legal Counsel
Location: London or Newbury + *Hybrid
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Hybrid working approach allows flexible. Employees are requested to work in the office 2‑3 days each week, for at least 8 days per month, working with their line manager to understand expectations and role‑specific requirements.

What You’ll Do
The Senior Legal Counsel role involves leading strategic compliance across Mobile (including the Consumer Value Brands) and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality legal advice. The successful candidate will have broad legal experience and will support all VodafoneThree Consumer mobile products and key projects. They will build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensure legal compliance, and mitigate risks. They will also support the Lead Counsel in developing a high‑performing legal team and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
* Strategic compliance leadership: Lead compliance for Mobile and Consumer Value Brands; act as principal legal advisor to senior and cross‑functional stakeholders.
* High‑quality legal advice: Deliver pragmatic, solution‑focused counsel for Mobile/CSVB products; ensure marketing/advertising compliance with brand strategy.
* Stakeholder management: Build collaborative relationships across legal, product, marketing, compliance, security, commercial and regulatory teams; provide timely, business‑aligned advice.
* Risk assessment & assurance: Identify and mitigate legal risks; ensure regulatory compliance and embed controls into customer journeys and campaigns.
* Governance & continual improvement: Embed legal governance, deliver training, and drive efficiency and self‑service in legal processes.
* Horizon scanning: Monitor regulatory/legislative changes affecting mobile, advertising and brand activity; advise on impacts and coordinate with Government Affairs on consultations.
* Team development & integration: Support Lead Counsel in developing staff, integrating legacy teams into a single operating model, aligning resources to priorities, and promoting inclusion and professional growth.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will have significant PQE experience as a qualified lawyer (or appropriate equivalent) in a leading telco, with extensive commercial experience and a deep understanding of the telecom sector. They should possess strong stakeholder management skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage legal risk in strategic projects. They will also be a strong team player, with a proven ability to support leadership and develop junior team members. Key performance indicators include timely delivery of legal advice, positive stakeholder feedback, effective risk management, and strong team engagement.
* Legal Expertise: Significant PQE experience as a qualified lawyer in a leading telco (or equivalent), with extensive commercial experience.
* Industry knowledge: Deep understanding of the technology and telecom sectors, and good knowledge of legal trends within the industry.
* Risk Management: Proven ability to manage legal risk, balancing risk and mitigations to enable business growth and deliver consumer outcomes.
* Commercial Acumen: Applies sound commercial judgement to balance legal risk with business opportunity and brings the voice of the customer into decision‑making.
* Influential Stakeholder and External Engagement: Strong negotiation and engagement skills with internal leadership and external parties, building trusted relationships that drive strategic outcomes.
* Analytical Insight & Strategic Communication: Advanced legal analysis to complex problems, extracting insights and shaping pragmatic solutions.
* Delivery: Experience in delivering high‑quality legal services across the business as a trusted enabler and partner.
