Science Lecturer – GCSE Plus Programme
We are currently looking to recruit a Science lecturer to teach GCSE Chemistry, Biology and Physics within our GCSE Plus programme (retake programme). The GCSE Plus course is tailored for learners who have not yet secured a grade 4 in at least five GCSEs, including science, due to a variety of reasons such as being home‑schooled or hospital‑educated. The successful candidate will support students with the aspiration of gaining science qualifications to progress onto A Levels or other Level 3 pathways such as health and social care. The role sits within the GCSE Plus and Pathways department and will be supported by a fantastic team with a track record of delivering outstanding results.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* Undertake all forms of pedagogic work, including classroom teaching, tutorial work, outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses, and student placements.
* Ensure associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken.
* Meet annual teaching workload of contact hours for category ‘A’ duties of 828 maximum to 761 minimum (pro‑rated for part‑time) as detailed in the College workload agreement.
* Conduct curriculum development work, including identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials.
Beneficial Skills and Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent, or have substantial relevant subject experience.
* PGCE or qualified teacher status.
* Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Experience working within a HE/FE environment.
