Job Summary
The post holder will provide psychological consultation, formulation, assessment and intervention for service users and carers within a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) context. The role includes delivering evidence-based individual and group interventions such as DBT, supporting the team to provide psychologically informed care, providing training and supervision, and contributing to the development of the complex emotional needs, personality disorder and trauma pathway.
Responsibilities
 * Provide psychological consultation, formulation, assessment and intervention to service users and carers.
 * Attend relevant weekly team and psychology meetings.
 * Deliver individual and group interventions (e.g., DBT) and other evidence‑based therapies.
 * Provide training and support to the wider team.
 * Develop a therapeutic model or specialism to augment provision of evidence‑based therapies.
Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Essential - Post‑graduate degree (or equivalent if trained before 1996) in clinical psychology or counselling, accredited by the BPS.
 * Essential - Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
 * Desirable - Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Experience
 * Essential - Experience working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist (Band 7) and supervising trainee clinical psychologists.
 * Essential - Experience working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment.
 * Essential - Experience of supervision and teaching.
Skills
 * Essential - Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
Knowledge
 * Essential - Doctor‑level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis.
Other
 * Essential - Ability to travel independently.
