The Opportunity
As Director of AI Engineering, you will serve as the most senior technical authority for AI solutions across the Professional and Financial Services business unit. This is a high impact leadership role that combines deep AI and machine learning expertise with commercial and strategic influence. You will define and deliver the technical vision for clients across banking, insurance, and asset management, while developing and guiding a world-class team of data scientists and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced AI solutions, ensuring exceptional technical standards across the business unit
• Provide hands-on guidance on solution architecture, machine learning modelling, and engineering best practice
• Define and champion a forward-thinking AI strategy tailored to financial and professional services
• Act as senior technical advisor in key client engagements, helping shape and secure new opportunities
• Recruit, structure, and develop high-performing technical teams within the business unit
• Represent the organisation through thought leadership, including conferences, publications, and industry forums
About You
• Proven record in AI and machine learning strategy and delivery, ideally within the financial or professional services sector
• Strong experience with MLOps and scaling AI applications into production environments
• Deep understanding of systems architecture and engineering principles, with experience leading full stack technology teams
• Commercial awareness of how AI can drive growth and efficiency across banking, insurance, and asset management
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical teams and C-suite stakeholders
• A collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring and developing high performing teams
