Specialist Practitioner School Nursing

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Practitioner (School Nursing) to join and complement our forward-thinking Dorset 0-19 CYP Public Health Teams. This role is within the Chesil 0-19 CYP Public Health Team in Weymouth and Portland. You will work within the Children Young Person Public Health (CYP PH) Service to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and targeted interventions to children 5 to 19 and their families.
This is a permanent post of 30 hours per week, year‑round.

Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Practitioner, you will lead and participate in the School Nursing core programme, underpinned by the Healthy Child Programme, and work in partnership with children, young people and families, the Local Authority, Early Intervention Services, Children’s Services, Schools and other Health Care providers.
You will be required to work closely with pan‑Dorset 0‑19 CYP Public Health Teams to provide services in response to identified needs, including supporting the delivery of the ChatHealth texting service, Safeguarding and School Nursing Requests for Support.
You will be Registered Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner School Nursing at degree/diploma level, and be able to demonstrate specialist clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information to make clinical judgements regarding diagnosis and intervention.

Knowledge, Skills and Training
* Registered Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner School Nursing.
* Membership of the relevant professional body.
* Evidence of recent CPD.
Job Specific Experience
* Recent previous experience within a specialist role.
* Experience of managing change.
* Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Managerial / Supervisory Experience
* Experience of mentoring junior staff.
* Experience of devising and delivering training.
Information Technology
* Experience of using electronic patient records.
* Ability to analyse data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Ability to communicate effectively at different levels of the organisation with staff, patients and partner agencies, both verbally and in writing including the exchange of highly complex and sensitive information.
* Experience of planning and organising complex activities to include organising not just own time but that of junior staff.
Business Travel and Additional Requirements
* Ability to travel using own vehicle on trust business.
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English enabling the post holder to carry out full range of duties and responsibilities of the role.
