Youth Worker – Young Hackney (London Borough of Hackney) Location: Hackney, London Salary: £30,033 – £31,440 per annum Hours: Monday – Sunday Contract Type: Part-Time Make a Difference in the Lives of Young People in Hackney The London Borough of Hackney is seeking passionate, committed, and community-driven Youth Workers to join the Young Hackney team. You’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, open-access and targeted youth work programmes through our Youth Hubs, schools, and community settings. About the Role: As a Youth Worker, you’ll contribute to a wide range of youth-focused services and activities designed to: * Support educational attainment and positive mental health * Provide safe spaces for socialising and personal development * Offer meaningful alternatives to crime, exclusion, and disengagement * Help young people transition successfully into adulthood and employment You’ll be working face-to-face with young people aged 11–19 (up to 25 for those with SEND) across Hackney, providing group sessions, one-to-one support, and community outreach. Key Responsibilities: Planning & Delivery * Contribute to a 7-day programme of term-time, holiday, and residential youth activities * Design and deliver open access and targeted youth work sessions tailored to the needs of local communities * Ensure programmes support physical and emotional wellbeing, education, employability and personal development Direct Youth Work * Build honest, supportive relationships with young people, including those who are vulnerable or hard to reach * Support early intervention by identifying needs, assessing risk and signposting to appropriate services * Engage in outreach in schools, streets and neighbourhoods * Encourage youth participation in programme design, evaluation and service feedback Partnership Working * Collaborate with schools, Police, Social Care, health services and voluntary organisations * Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with the London Child Protection Guidelines Monitoring & Evaluation * Record attendance and progress using outcomes-based tools and recognised accreditations * Support programme quality, improvement and impact measurement Safeguarding, Equality & Inclusion * Promote and safeguard the welfare of young people * Model inclusive, anti-discriminatory practice * Deliver services that reflect Hackney’s diverse communities and support young people with SEND About You: We’re looking for Youth Workers who are: Passionate about young people’s development Creative and enthusiastic with a positive, resilient attitude Able to engage children, young people and families from diverse backgrounds Experienced in delivering structured, engaging and inclusive activities Committed to safeguarding, equality, and youth participation Essential Requirements: * Experience delivering open access or targeted youth work or participation programmes * Knowledge of youth development, safeguarding and multi-agency working * Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holiday periods * Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) Desirable (but not essential): * Relevant qualification in Youth Work or Play Work (Level 2/3) * First Aid Certificate * Qualifications in arts, sports or outdoor education (e.g. Music, Drama, FA Level 1) * Understanding of accreditation tools (e.g. AQA, Youth Achievement Awards) What We Offer: * A dynamic, supportive team in one of London’s most vibrant boroughs * Access to state-of-the-art Youth Hubs and resources * Ongoing CPD and opportunities to grow your career in youth services * A role where your work has a real, lasting impact Apply Today and Be Part of Something Bigger!
