Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. The Senior Safeguarding Nurse / Practitioner for Children role is a visible and knowledgeable resource and support to patient facing staff across the Trust for safeguarding children’s concerns. They will work alongside trust staff developing safeguarding competence and confidence with a focus on improving patient outcomes.

They will use their own robust knowledge to support staff through advice, guidance, supervision and training keeping the working together to safeguard children framework at the forefront of their interactions.

They will contribute to the safeguarding agenda through the provision of evidence based safeguarding advice, support, guidance, supervision and training for all disciplines of staff across all trust sites.

1. To work with all staff to provide support, advice and expert guidance to assist in exercising duties and responsibilities for safeguarding of children/ young people, adults and their families where appropriate
2. To deputise for the Operational Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Children, providing specialist advice, support and supervision across the Trust.
3. Support Trust staff in the management of all aspects of complex and serious safeguarding children/young people activities including, for example, attendance at strategy discussions and complex case meetings.
4. To be a competent, knowledgeable, and visible practitioner, ensuring the provision of high-quality safeguarding children support for frontline practitioners
5. Deliver safeguarding supervision to clinical frontline staff
6. Assess, implement, plan, and evaluate care and interventions for service users with complex safeguarding needs.
7. To complete safeguarding audits as per the Safeguarding team audit plan
8. Maintain and develop own levels of specialist knowledge and skills in relation to safeguarding children/young people and clinical practice.
9. Work collaboratively with partner agencies as set out in the Working together to Safeguard Children (2023) guidance.
10. To escalate safeguarding concerns, internally and externally as per local, regional and National directive
