An ambitious and forward-thinking local authority is seeking an experienced interim strategic leader to drive its regeneration and property transformation agenda. This is a six-month interim assignment at Service Director level, overseeing Property Services and Business Support.
This pivotal role will take ownership of the authority's property portfolio and capital programmes, lead on the implementation of an Estate Strategy and Corporate Landlord model, and advise on the future operating model for property and regeneration services.
This assignment offers a unique platform to influence and shape the strategic direction of the authority's property function-maximising commercial outcomes, supporting sustainable community development, and guiding significant investment decisions.
As a key regional stakeholder, the authority is actively involved in major growth initiatives and has substantial opportunities to unlock value from its estate, delivering place-based solutions that support housing, infrastructure, and economic development.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the strategic management of the authority's property estate, including acquisitions, disposals, and investment planning.
* Deliver a £100m capital programme and manage a £6m revenue budget.
* Implement the approved Estate Strategy and Corporate Landlord Model.
* Provide expert advice to senior leaders and elected members on all property-related matters.
* Shape the future of the property and regeneration service through organisational design and change.
* Ensure compliance, data accuracy, and alignment with the authority's climate and equality commitments.
This role requires a senior property professional with a proven track record in local government or public sector leadership, and strong strategic, commercial, and stakeholder management capabilities.
