We are currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment within the medical device sector. The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of production operations. You will lead a team of Process/Manufacturing Operatives, ensuring performance targets are achieved across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People metrics.
This is a hands-on leadership role, and you will be expected to operate as a Process Operator when required.
Key Responsibilities
-Take daily responsibility for achieving Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People).
- Promote and drive a zero-accident culture through proactive identification of safety risks.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Provide daily leadership and direction to a team of Manufacturing Operators.
- Maintain high-quality standards in line with Medical Device and GMP requirements.
- Ensure adherence to production plans to meet customer delivery expectations (OTIF).
- Monitor product compliance with customer specifications.
- Lead and promote best practice in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Conduct performance checks and provide accurate operational updates.
- Drive improvements in Right First Time and accurate batch record completion.
- Plan labour requirements, including managing sickness and holiday cover.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
- Attend planning meetings and provide clear production updates.
- Develop team capability through multi-skilling initiatives.
- Coach and mentor team members using Lean leadership principles.
- Support temporary labour planning where required.
- Take responsibility for daily operational decisions to ensure production targets are met.
- Communicate effectively across shifts using verbal, written, email and visual management tools.
- Lead manufacturing activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
About You
-GCSE level education (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with prior team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ideally within a regulated industry.
- Ability to follow and communicate detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and computer literacy.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
- Experience of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
