MATERIALS CONTROLLER Location: Goole Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 per annum (equivalent hourly rate £15.87 - £16.83), dependent on experience Contract Type: Ongoing (agency contractor) About the Company Our client is a leading railway infrastructure company dedicated to delivering excellence within the rail industry. They are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Materials Controller to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will manage and expedite materials to ensure alignment with production schedules, meeting operational, sales, and contractual requirements. Key Responsibilities Warranty Management - Manage the warranty returns process to ensure timely return of faulty products. - Coordinate with respective fleets to oversee ongoing claim management and resolution. Inventory Management - Manage the order book and prioritise replenishment and repairable parts to comply with planning and optimise inventory levels. - Supply parts to fulfil unplanned (UVS) requirements. - Maintain effective and proactive communication across all levels to ensure supply priorities for main inventory and each fleet/contract are clearly understood. Process Management - Oversee operational processes relating to key supply chain activities and material flow. - Continuously develop cross-functional and departmental processes within your remit. - Monitor compliance with internal control procedures, implementing corrective actions as required to ensure consistent processes across the business. - Manage returns and product rejections with suppliers to minimise commercial risk and liability. Materials Planning - Coordinate materials planning and forecasting between fleets and inventory specialists to maintain optimised stock levels. Customer Relationships - Collaborate with internal and external customers to meet current needs and explore opportunities for mutual benefit. - Foster strong relationships to support future business growth. Financial Management - Optimise materials to support fleet operations efficiently. Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) - Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility. - Comply with Siemens Rail Systems HSQE policies. - Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team and encourage active participation in raising issues and implementing agreed changes. - Engage fully with the RL behavioural safety agenda to promote a safe working environment. - Collaborate with the HSQE team to set targets and priorities, cascading information to your team. - Take reasonable care to minimise environmental impact. - Accept personal responsibility for your own safety and that of others affected by your actions or omissions. Continuous Improvement & Quality - Actively contribute to the 3is improvement programme and drive the implementation of team-based improvements. - Continuously develop cross-functional and departmental processes. Compliance - Monitor adherence to internal control procedures and take corrective action where necessary. - Promote awareness and understanding of Siemens compliance policies and the ‘Tell Us ethos within your area of responsibility. Experience & Qualifications - Proven experience in stock control and inventory management. - Comprehensive knowledge of materials and stores management procedures, including warranty processes. - Proficient in IT systems and software relevant to the role. - Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
