Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Consultant Psychiatrist to join Coral Ward, a 19-bed acute inpatient ward at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley. This is a key medical and leadership role within our inpatient multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, person-centred care to adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
Recruitment & Retention Payment
* £15,000 payable upon successful recruitment.
* £10,000 payable at 12 months' service.
* £10,000 payable at 24 months' service.
* £10,000 payable at 36 months' service.

Main Duties
* Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment to inpatients.
* Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients under the Mental Health Act.
* Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training.
* Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development.
This role can also support research, development, medical education or special interests. We strongly believe in creating roles that provide a service but also give you the opportunity to develop your own areas of special interest.
On appointment you will have the opportunity to join the Trust wide consultant network as well as having access to peer support from colleagues in West Sussex.

Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per year pro‑rate.

Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych.
* Additional clinical qualifications.
Eligibility
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
Transport
* Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of a proposed alternative.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Excellent knowledge in specialty.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.

* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Ability to work in and lead team.
