Job Description:
Heriot Brown is working with the largest privately owned insurance brokerage. If you’re a commercial lawyer with insurance market experience and you’re looking for a contract role in a collaborative, high‑performing in‑house team, this could be the one.
You’ll join the legal function of a major player in the insurance sector, supporting the business across a wide range of matters. Expect exposure to commercial contracts, insurance agreements, data privacy, marketing arrangements, technology and outsourcing, and general business law.
About the role
6‑month fixed‑term contract (with potential to extend or go permanent) within the Commercial Legal Team. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the UK and international business, including:
* Acting as a trusted adviser on commercial and insurance law matters
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of agreements (TOBAs, service agreements, IT contracts, sponsorship deals, consultancy arrangements and more)
* Supporting on privacy/GDPR issues and contributing to policies and training
* Driving process improvements and knowledge sharing within the legal team
You’ll need
* Broad commercial contracts experience with strong knowledge of insurance law
* Experience in the insurance industry (in‑house or private practice)
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and influence senior stakeholders
* A proactive, flexible, solutions‑focused mindset
