An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated nurse to join the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Urology department, serving the North and Clyde sectors. This crucial Band 6 post forms an integral part of the wider Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team and involves working across multiple sites, including the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Stobhill Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, and the Vale of Leven Hospital. Working collaboratively within a highly skilled and supportive Band 7 CNS team. The post holder will be responsible for administering specialised intravesical therapies for patients diagnosed with bladder cancer and benign urological conditions. The post holder will provide comprehensive support throughout the entire treatment pathway, assisting with essential diagnostic procedures to the administration of intravesical treatments and bladder dysfunction follow up clinics.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to uphold the highest standards of clinical practice, patient safety, and evidence-based care. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes by guiding individuals through complex cancer treatment pathways and supporting them at every stage of their journey.
To provide locally based services the post is primarily based within the Clyde sector, but there may be a requirement to travel to any sites to provide this vital service. The post holder will conduct weekly nurse led return clinics at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, the Vale of Leven Hospital, and the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The successful candidate will manage a defined caseload, prioritising and organising their workload effectively to ensure the timely delivery of high quality services. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role includes elements of leadership, education, research, and service development, all underpinned by the principles of clinical governance.
We are seeking a registered nurse with current NMC registration and post registration experience in urology. The ideal candidate will be clinically confident, highly organised, and passionate about delivering patient centred care. Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team. While experience in urology including bladder installations and bladder scanning is highly desirable, previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist is not essential, as comprehensive training and development opportunities will be available. Due to the multi-site nature of this position, a valid driving licence is required.
