Role: Laboratory Analytical Technician
Location: Par Moor Centre, Par Moor Road, Par, Cornwall, PL24 2SQ
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Up to £26,668 per annum (plus applicable shift pay, standby and
overtime where required)
Join our Analytical Services Group and play a key role in delivering accurate, high-
quality analytical data to support our operations and customers. As a Laboratory
Analytical Technician, you will carry out approved test methods across a range of
laboratory disciplines, ensuring results are recorded and reported in line with our
quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience who enjoys
working with a variety of analytical techniques and thrives in a safety-focused, team-
based environment.

The job role
Perform laboratory-scale test measurements using approved test methods and Good
Laboratory Practice.
Operate and maintain analytical instruments including ICP-OES, Carbon/Sulphur,
Nitrogen and Mercury analysers, XRF, XRD and microscopy equipment, as required.
Accurately record, check and report results within agreed timescales using LIMS and
other systems.
Carry out routine instrument checks, calibration and quality control activities in line
with ISO/IEC 17025 and internal quality standards.
Identify and report non-conformities, equipment issues and deviations in sample
integrity, taking appropriate corrective action in consultation with the Laboratory
Manager or Supervisor.
Support experimental programmes and laboratory investigations as directed,
ensuring results are reliable and clearly documented.
Work safely at all times, adhering to Health & Safety procedures, COSHH
assessments and safe systems of work, including when handling hazardous
chemicals and operating at elevated temperatures or pressures.
Contribute to continuous improvement activities and maintain a clean, organised
laboratory environment.

You will:
Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a science-based subject.
Have at least one year's experience working in a laboratory environment.
Demonstrate practical experience of analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, ICP-
MS, XRF, XRD or similar.
Be familiar with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Show strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate results to strict
deadlines.
Be safety-conscious, with experience handling hazardous chemicals and working in
controlled laboratory conditions.
Have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective
working relationships with colleagues and internal customers.
Be proactive, inquisitive and able to solve problems methodically.
