Job Description – Event Service Manager
Company: Crafted
Reporting to: Head
of F&B
Location: Powdermills Hotel,
Battle
Type: Full-Time
Salary: £37.5k p/a plus
service charge
We’re not hiring people to fill a seat or add to our
headcount. We’re hiring people to craft our culture, ethos and success. This is
a big deal for us, and we know it’s a big deal for you: a new role defines how
you spend your days, who you spend them with, and what your future looks
like.
Together, we’ll shape each other’s entire trajectory.
That deserves thoughtfulness, empathy and respect. It’s why this job
description is deliberately detailed. We want you to know exactly what you’re
stepping into. The challenges, the opportunities, the quirks of the role, and
the kind of impact you’ll have.
Us
Crafted is a series of life-friendly hotels and spaces
where guests can be themselves and fill up on the good stuff: nature, food,
wellbeing, craft, people and play. We hope to open several hotels in the coming
years, with our first coming in summer 2025: Crafted at Powdermills, East
Sussex.
More specifics will follow as planning and pieces fall
into place. So, for now, here’s the sentiment behind Crafted…
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by life. To switch to
autopilot and go through the motions. We’re busy but not on the things we love
doing, we spend more time on our phone, and we misplace our bounce and
spark.
In short, Dr Evil’s stolen our mojo.
We all need a tune up now and again. To escape to
somewhere that makes us feel totally at ease. Not so we can step away from
life, but so we can come back to it. This is where Crafted comes in.
Our aim is to create a network of connected destinations
that people come back to again and again because it’s where they feel good
about life. Somewhere to work on life, come together, and connect locally.
You
As Event Operations Manager
you will take ownership of the on-the-ground delivery of all events at Crafted. From weddings and private celebrations to
corporate and members gatherings, you’ll ensure every event is run with warmth,
confidence and calm professionalism.
Reporting to the Head of F&B,
you’ll be a visible leader during events setting the tone for service,
supporting teams in the moment, and ensuring guests feel genuinely looked after
from arrival to farewell. This is a hands-on leadership role, focused on service
delivery, team communication and operational excellence.
When events are not taking
place, this role sits fully within the F&B Management team,
supporting day-to-day service across the pub, restaurant and bars, and being
rota’d accordingly. Flexibility around evenings and weekends is essential.
Although this isn’t an
office role you’ll work closely with Events Sales, Membership, F&B, Kitchen
and Operations teams to translate event briefs into seamless, well-paced
experiences that reflect Crafted’s values.
That said, as our Events Service
Manager, your primary responsibilities will be to:
* Lead
the live delivery of all events, ensuring service feels confident,
warm and well-paced throughout
* Act
as the senior on-site lead during events, visible on the floor and fully
accountable for guest experience
* Take
full ownership of event run sheets once confirmed by Sales, ensuring they
are accurate, realistic and service-led
* Translate
run sheets into clear, practical plans for F&B and Kitchen teams,
identifying risks or pressure points early
* Lead
clear, confident event briefings, ensuring all teams understand timings,
service style, guest expectations and flow
* Work
closely with F&B and Kitchen leaders to ensure menus, timings and
service styles are achievable and well-executed
* Recruit,
train and lead event service teams, setting standards and coaching
performance in real time
* Own
event-day staffing plans, rotas and service flow, ensuring teams are
supported and set up to succeed
* Oversee
practical event logistics including room set-ups, table plans, bar
operations, timings and turnarounds
* Deliver
a calm, attentive client and host experience on the day, handling requests
with confidence and care
* Troubleshoot
issues quickly and discreetly, keeping guests unaware and service flowing
* Ensure
all events operate within health, safety and licensing requirements
* Coordinate
with suppliers where required to ensure smooth integration with service
teams
* Lead
event close-downs, resets and handovers, leaving spaces restored to brand
standards
* When
not delivering events, support the wider F&B operation as part of the
management rota, leading services and teams across the site
* Capture
guest and client feedback post-event, using insight to refine service
delivery and team performance
-----------------------------------
About You
* 3+
years’ experience in F&B leadership roles, with hands-on event
delivery experience
* A
service-first leader who enjoys being on the floor and setting the tone
* Strong
understanding of food & beverage operations, service flow and team
leadership
* Confident
leading teams through busy, high-pressure services
* Calm,
organised and decisive, with excellent problem-solving instincts
* Comfortable
working closely with kitchens, bars and senior operational teams
* Clear,
confident communicator who brings people with them
* Good
working knowledge of health, safety and licensing requirements
* Flexible
to work evenings, weekends and key event dates as part of a management
rota
* Based
locally or willing to travel to Crafted at Powdermills
Together
We hire people with personality who have a desire to
continuously learn. Each person should bring themselves to work to shape our
culture and keep us real, interesting, and original.
To create a comfortable environment for all, guest and
staff, we prioritise teamwork over titles: no one’s too important to lend a
hand, or to new to have a good opinion. We need low egos but high expectations:
people who are humble enough to jump in, and serious about making an impact.
Three values we’ll expect you to live by:
1. Enjoy
it: it’s still work, but if you’re having fun then so are our guests. It’s
ok if you’re humming behind the bar or moving with the music.
2. Own
it: whoever you are, and whatever your role, someone’s enjoyment is in
your hands. Always keep an eye out.
3. Improve
it: ask for feedback (and don’t be scared of what follows) and be curious.
We’ll give you plenty of chances to learn and develop.
Note: positive Environmental, Social and
Governance (ESG) principles are integrated across these three values.
