Major Recruitment are currently seeking a quality engineer to join our well established and growing client based in Huddersfield.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the SHEQ Manager in maintaining ISO 9001 certification and is compliant to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
* Carry out internal process, product, and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
* Investigate non-conformances, implement root cause analysis (RCA), and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Monitor quality KPIs (scrap, rework, customer complaints) and prepare reports for management review.
* Support inspection and verification of fabricated sheet metal parts, including dimensional checks, material traceability, and finish requirements.
* Develop, review, and update quality documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and control plans.
* Provide training and guidance to production teams on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Work with Engineering and Production teams to ensure new product introductions (NPI) meet quality requirements from prototype to full production.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters, including complaints, returns, and supplier performance.
* Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance in line with the company's SHEQ policies.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a Quality Engineering or similar role within a sheet metal, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS and auditing practices.
* Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is advantageous.
* Experience with root cause analysis, problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone), and corrective action implementation.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, material specifications, and GD&T.
* Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres, height gauges).
* Good IT skills (MS Office, ERP/MRP systems).
* Strong communication skills, able to work cross-functionally and liaise effectively with customers and suppliers.
* A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline (desirable but not essential).
* Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 Lead/ Internal Auditor).
Working Monday to Thursday.
