The Marbrook Centre is an award winning specialist neurological and dementia care provider in St Neots, (PE19 8EP). We deliver specialist 24 hour nursing and therapy services for adults with complex and long term neurological conditions. Here at The Marbrook Centre you will have time to deliver a high standard of nursing care alongside job security and great benefits. You will work as part of a small, friendly and competent clinical team with autonomy in a supportive environment led by a qualified nurse management team. You will be hands on and involved in every aspect of residents care, including personal care and managing/ administering medication. You will be expected to make sound clinical judgements, role model best practise and mentor junior staff to achieve their potential. There is opportunity to develop your own clinical skills and to work with our in-house specialist therapy team to deliver the best outcomes for residents.
Responsibilities
* Ensure NICE guidelines, best practise and the NMC code of professional conduct are followed for all aspects of the service including care plans and care delivery.
* Lead the care team and manage shift operations to ensure the smooth running of the shift and prioritise resident needs.
* Inspire staff to operate efficiently and compassionately, leading, modelling, coaching and mentoring Support Workers and colleagues.
* Allocate tasks, delegate effectively, and support audits as required.
* Address errors or poor performance in care staff in a timely and appropriate manner, reporting to the appropriate manager as needed.
* Deliver direct resident care, liaising with the therapy team on implementation of personal care plans and rehabilitation goals.
* Dispense medications and mentor staff through medication dispensing competencies.
* Review and update resident care plans in conjunction with the wider MDT; maintain records to NMC standards.
* Keep up to date with professional developments and bring innovation and input to the role for discussion with the line manager.
* Attend required meetings (e.g., MDT, care and support meetings, staff meetings) to ensure care is optimised.
* Maintain a clean, safe environment and manage stock, ordering and storage of medications in line with procedures.
* Ensure staff have appropriate competencies and experience before assigning tasks; support investigations and reporting as needed.
* Support recruitment, selection and development of Support Workers; participate in mandatory and developmental training.
* Adhere to relevant legislation and policies (e.g., CQC standards, Mental Capacity Act, Health and Safety at Work) and contribute to policy revision as appropriate.
* Maintain confidentiality, dignity and respect for residents, and adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered General/Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse (current) with a minimum of 12 months post qualification.
* Experience or knowledge of neurological or physical rehabilitation services.
* A demonstrated commitment to caring for people with neurological conditions.
Desirable
* Experience of mentoring, assessing and teaching of staff.
