Job overview We have a great opportunity to join the Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a full-time Band 6 Surgical Dietitian, on a fixed term basis for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will be involved in delivering specialist inpatient and outpatient services to our surgical patients. The postholder will work as part of a dynamic team of 6 surgical dietitians, ACP and a dietetic support worker. Advert This post involves managing an inpatient caseload on the surgical wards as well as a regular specialist outpatient clinic. The successful candidate will work closely with MDT colleagues including consultants and specialist nurses. Clinical areas covered include: upper GI, colorectal gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, pancreatic disease and complex oral and enteral nutrition support. There will an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience in parenteral nutrition and critical care dietetics. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop supervision skills through supporting other staff and students. They will also be encouraged to actively contribute to audits, as well as to develop and implement innovative approaches to service delivery. Excellent team working, communication and prioritisation skills are essential. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The postholder will: As part of the Ashford and St Peter’s Dietetic Department, provide a high quality nutrition and dietetic service to patients, carers and staff at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals. As a practitioner with a high degree of autonomy, take responsibility for managing and providing the majority of the services required and planning this effectively To support supervision of staff as required To take an active role within the general functioning of the Dietetic Department, including contributing to student training.
