Our client, a prestigious body within the highways sector, is seeking a dedicated Parking Design Engineer for a contract role. This position involves working on various parking control schemes within the highway network, playing a key role in supporting and enhancing traffic and parking management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting in data collection for the design of minor parking control schemes
* Supporting the detailed design of minor parking control schemes, including drawing preparation
* Preparing cost estimates for minor parking control schemes
* Inspecting contractors' work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
* Liaising with contractors and statutory undertakers on-site
* Conducting out-of-hours site inspections and work supervision, as necessary
* Utilising computerised systems appropriate to parking design and management
* Responding to public queries and assisting in preparing responses to elected members, MPs, and partners
* Ensuring compliance with the Council's Equal Opportunities, Customer Care, and Environmental policies
Job Requirements:
* Experience in parking design and management within the highways sector
* Strong understanding of traffic movements and site survey procedures
* Proficiency in preparing cost estimates and detailed design drawings
* Ability to inspect and assess contractors' work quality on-site
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with contractors and statutory representatives
* Competence in using computerised systems relevant to the role
* Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation related to the public
