Job Description
CK Group is recruiting for a Research & Development Scientist on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This role is based at their site in Gateshead and is a permanent position, with Monday to Friday daytime hours. The vacancy is within the Capillary Electrophoresis Research and Development Department and offers the opportunity to join a small, high-performance team developing and supporting the next generation of CE assays and related software.
The ideal candidate would be highly motivated, self-reliant, with a science background and ideally 2-3 years of experience within the IVD industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Receive new projects for the development of capillary electrophoresis tests.
2. Identify deliverables and schedules for new work requests and assist the Senior R&D Scientist with resource allocation.
3. Compile technical documentation to meet strict regulatory standards.
4. Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to product or software performance.
5. Create, review, and maintain Quality System Procedures related to product validation and verification.
6. Identify, report, and log software bugs to the Software Department.
7. Test all patches from the Software Department that contain bug fixes and improvements.
8. Complete all software testing before customer release.
9. Maintain relevant patch and software documentation throughout development.
10. Update and test Methods Files before customer release.
11. Test Firmware releases prior to customer release.
12. Maintain CE Product Technical Files.
13. Manage the R&D department's stock levels and laboratory supplies.
Background:
* B.Sc. or equivalent in Life Sciences or Chemistry.
* Minimum of 2-3 years post-graduate laboratory/R&D experience; experience in the IVD industry is desirable.
* Experience with analytical techniques or automated analyzers is an advantage.
* Familiarity with good laboratory practice.
* Experience working to IVD or IVDR standards is advantageous.
* Strong writing skills for producing coherent and accurate reports.
* Interest in Capillary Electrophoresis is a plus.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Good communication skills with all personnel within the company.
* Proficient in using the Internet and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis software.
