Accountant | Abingdon | Competitive Salary (DOE)
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, MondayFriday

Youll join a modern, growing practice in Abingdon, working in a smallgroup with other Senior Accountants and Client Advisers. Expect varied work across owner-managed and SME clients, strong processes, and a culture that values clarity, communication, and getting things right the first time.
Youll be a key member of the team, responsible for:
Preparing year-end and interim accounts for a mixed portfolio of SME clients
Preparing corporation tax and Directors self-assessment returns
Completing key reconciliations (payables, receivables, payroll, VAT)
Producing clear working papers and supporting schedules
Using Xero and other cloud tools to streamline client workflows
Supporting annual review meetings for less complex clients and following up on actions
As you grow, youll increasingly lead on client communication, handle more complex jobs, and support the development of junior team members.
About you
Youll be someone who enjoys client contact, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to keep progressing in practice. You are likely to have:
At least 3 years recent experience in an accountancy practice
A recognised qualification (ACA / ACCA) or be close to qualifying
Strong experience preparing accounts and tax for SMEs
Confidence using cloud accounting (ideally Xero)
Clear, professional communication skills and a proactive approach to deadlines
