Overview
Environment Agency seeks organised and motivated people to join our teams in Environment and Business (E&B) as Project Support Officers (PSO). PSOs cover a diverse range of activities to support project delivery and play a key role in supporting Project Managers through project management processes and coordinating business management tasks.
Responsibilities
* Support the smooth running of projects, programmes, and portfolios using P3M processes
* Coordinate planning, scheduling, governance, and reporting activities
* Maintain clear, accurate project documentation
* Support risk, issue, resource, and financial management
* Drive assurance processes and uphold delivery standards
* Provide strong organisational, logistical, and administrative support
* Enable confident decision-making through clear information and communication
* Share good practice to strengthen project delivery across teams
* Contribute to a positive, collaborative, inclusive team environment
Experience / Skills Required
* Experience in a project support, coordination, or similar role
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with accuracy
* Comfortable working with data and able to analyse information and present it clearly for different audiences
* Adaptable and resilient, responding positively to changing priorities
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills with confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels
* Confident using digital tools with a willingness to learn new tools quickly
* Works well both independently and as part of a team with a can-do attitude and ownership of work
* Commitment to continuous personal development and enhancement of skills and professional capability
The successful candidate will have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided. You may be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Role Details
We have eight roles available: 1 permanent and 7 fixed-term contracts/assignments. Length of contracts varies by role. For permanent and FTC appointments of 18 months or longer, there’ll be an option to complete an Association Project Manager Level 4 apprenticeship as part of the role. You’ll be based in an EA Office with flexible/hybrid working. Some travel and overnights may be required.
You will join a team within E&B, tackling environmental challenges and engaging with government, industry, the public, and media. You will support the delivery of projects and contribute to governance and assurance activities.
