You will be working closely with the Band 7 RISE Crisis team Leads to develop this service while providing comprehensive assessments and interventions primarily within acute care settings. You will provide mental health care to children, young people, and their families in line with local and national guidelines. Additionally, you will offer regular consultation, joint work, training, and advice to other agency staff regarding child and adolescent mental health, specifically related to self-harm issues, to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.
Responsibilities include:
1. Assessing the urgent mental health needs of children and young people referred to RISE and the acute paediatric wards.
2. Identifying areas of need for children and their families and facilitating access to appropriate services.
3. Promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing and interests of patients and clients in accordance with the National Occupation Standard.
4. Planning, supporting, implementing, and managing programmes for children and their families in collaboration with other RISE professionals and agencies.
5. Advising agencies on the most suitable services based on assessed needs.
6. Collaborating with adult mental health services for young people whose mental health needs may extend into adulthood.
7. Undertaking home visits and attending case conference reviews as appropriate.
8. Taking responsibility for ongoing professional development to meet statutory requirements, utilizing relevant research and evidence-based practices.
9. Developing and applying specialist knowledge in working with children and families.
10. Managing a caseload independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, working with children with complex needs, including challenging behaviour, mental health issues, and complex social situations.
