Overview
Our client, a leading further education provider, is seeking a
Lecturer in Web Application Development (Level 5)
to deliver on the Diploma in Web Application Development. This qualification provides learners with the technical and practical skills to design, build, test, and deploy full-stack web applications.
The role is ideal for a skilled coding professional with strong experience across
front-end, back-end, and frameworks such as Django
, who can inspire learners and support them in achieving their qualifications.
Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, labs, and workshops aligned to the Level 5 curriculum.
* Guide students through the four milestone projects, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
* Provide student support through mentoring, code reviews, assignment feedback, and debugging assistance.
* Use the learning management system (LMS) and Code Institute platform to deliver teaching, track progress, and identify students needing extra support.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of the curriculum, incorporating best practices and current trends in web development.
* Deliver content in key areas, including:
* User-Centric Frontend Development
(responsive design, accessibility, layout).
* Interactive Frontend Development
(HTML, CSS, JavaScript, debugging/testing).
* Data-Centric Backend Development
(Python, relational & non-relational databases).
* Full Stack Frameworks
(Django/Python MVC frameworks, APIs, authentication, e-commerce, automated testing).
Requirements
* Strong coding skills in
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python
.
* Relevant degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development) or equivalent experience.
* Continuous professional development evidenced through certifications, courses, or projects.
* Experience with frameworks such as
Django
(or other MVC frameworks); React or other front-end frameworks desirable.
* Solid understanding of
relational databases
(PostgreSQL, MySQL) and
non-relational databases
.
* Experience with
APIs, authentication, software testing, Git/version control
.
* Ability to explain coding concepts, architectures, debugging, security, and performance to learners.
* Strong communication skills and ability to design effective assessments.
* Prior teaching experience in Higher Education, Further Education, or bootcamps desirable but not essential.
