At Quest Global, we are hiring a Repair Engineer with Aero engine experience for our Aerospace customer in Derby. This is a 12-month contract, Outside IR35, with a Hybrid work model (3 days onsite per week).
Experience required: 6 to 12 years
Job Responsibilities
Typical activities expected from a Service/Repair Engineer include:
1. Constructing new methods and procedures for overhaul of aero engines.
2. Validating procedural steps in engine manuals by observing shop implementation.
3. Optimizing maintenance activities.
4. Analyzing in-service issues (Operational/Maintenance).
5. Identifying potential repair procedures.
6. Standardizing work practices in the shop.
7. Defining best practices to prevent material handling damage.
8. Reporting findings and recommendations.
Education and Experience
Minimum 4 years of post-qualification, hands-on experience with aero engines in an MRO, airline, aerospace, or defense-related organization.
Technical Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of:
* Gas turbine aero engines, engine components, and their functions during operation.
* Engine systems such as oil, fuel, air, bleed, etc.
* Failure and deterioration mechanisms leading to component/system failures.
* Troubleshooting failures.
* Maintenance, repair, and service of aero engines.
* Inspection methods including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
* Repair techniques applicable to components.
* Manufacturing techniques and their application during repair.
* Part drawing reading and GD&T concepts.
Required Skills
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Understanding of engine manuals and layouts.
Desired Skills
* Knowledge of key aircraft systems.
* Understanding of delivery excellence and quality control systems.
* Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 and Six Sigma tools (advantageous).
