Overview
The Assistant Finance Manager will support the Divisional Finance Managers, providing a comprehensive financial and performance management service to multiple Divisions and a Trust level. The role includes managing one support staff member to deliver Divisional financial and performance objectives. The Assistant Finance Manager may deputise for the Divisional Finance Managers as required.
Responsibilities
* Specific responsibility for the regular reporting of financial performance management information; support Divisional Finance Managers in annual financial planning and budget setting processes for divisions.
* Support the development of business cases and reporting of efficiency savings.
* May deputise for Divisional Finance Managers as required.
* Work independently and proactively using own initiative.
* Support budgetary control of specialities within divisions, including setting annual budgets, monthly accounts and reporting.
* Analyse and investigate income and expenditure data in appropriate detail; interpret trends to inform budgeting, financial management and forecasting.
* Meet regularly with budget managers and senior staff to provide information and analyses, explaining complex concepts where necessary.
* Provide technical and professional support to relevant managers within divisions.
* Ensure financial control processes are in place and adhered to within divisions and in line with the Trust and its Standing Orders and Financial Instructions.
* Support the Management Accountant in processing accounting journals to produce monthly management accounts for divisions.
* Take the lead on developing improvements and changes to local working practices, including streamlining processes.
* Prepare and regularly update procedure notes regarding specific functions in the financial management department to support governance and internal control, particularly working papers, audit trails, and authority for actions.
