We have a permanent vacancy for a Clinical Pharmacy Technician progressing from Band 4 to Band 5, working within Urgent and Emergency Care at Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
This fast-paced, varied environment offers continuous clinical development to provide patient-focused medicines management. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritizing patient safety and well-being, and will be involved in teaching healthcare professionals in the emergency department.
The role is suitable for pharmacy technicians aiming to work in emergency settings, including newly qualified or community pharmacy technicians starting hospital careers.
To progress to Band 5, the successful candidate must complete the in-house progression policy, demonstrate specialist knowledge in acute and emergency medicine, and be fully compliant with oral and IV medication administration. Please contact the lead recruiter for further details.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete detailed medication histories and reconcile with inpatient medications.
2. Administer IV and oral medications (training provided).
3. Counsel patients on medications to promote compliance.
4. Assist clinicians with medication queries.
5. Evaluate patient medication suitability for hospital use.
6. Participate in discharge planning with healthcare teams.
7. Accurately check dispensed items in hospital pharmacies.
8. Conduct departmental audits to ensure procedures are followed.
