What You Will Do

The Manager, Health Safety & Environment is responsible for providing HSE support to various STERIS EMEA business units within STERIS AST, and the HSE regional teams in regard to the implementation site risk assessments, statutory compliance, and STERIS global VPP Star program.

Work closely with local/divisional management and the operational business to champion, communicate and ensure the delivery of the AST EMEA HSE strategy with the objective of making and keeping the business safe against existing and emerging health, safety and environmental risks.

1. Provide proactive, efficient and professional HSE advice, coaching and support to identified businesses and functional teams.
2. Ensure effective management of Navigator, Cority and/or other related HSE operating systems and/or applications embedded at a divisional and operational level.
3. Organize, administer and support HSE communications (weekly, monthly) meetings, ensuring active participation and engagement by required stakeholders.
4. Support development, completion and ongoing review of risk assessments, advise on risk control measures, identify inadequately controlled risks and non-compliance.
5. Support the administration and document control of HSE policies, performance standards, procedures and guidelines.
6. Support development and delivery of HSE training and other engagement initiatives to improve awareness, competency and safety performance.
7. Develop an HSE training matrix and deliver training to improve Associate awareness, competency and safety performance.
8. Monitor and report on training completion, performance and compliance, using feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
9. Provide subject matter expertise in workplace safety and behavior-based observation processes, measures of success, and Associate training.
10. Ensure all incidents, accidents, near misses are reported, classified, investigated, escalated and managed per legal requirements.
11. Prepare and distribute applicable Safety Alerts to affected operations and teams.
12. Report on regional safety performance and support data collection and analysis of HSE metrics, identifying areas of concern and actions needed.
13. Maintain knowledge of HSE legislation, best practice and emerging risks; report changes that may impact the business and support effective response strategies.
14. Support, through a Legal Register, identification and implementation of environmental regulations.
15. Provide support to other STERIS business units operating within Czech Republic, Germany and Slovenia where needed; assist translation of HSE initiatives, policies, procedures and training into country-specific language.


Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

* Experience with internal HSE management systems and compliance audits
* Experience in implementing HSE programs
* Ability to build relationships and lead teams indirectly
* Experience with multi-site operations
* Experience of managing and maintaining Safety and Health Management Systems (ISO 45001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001)

* High level of professionalism
* Strong leadership, managerial, facilitation, training, and mentoring skills
* Strong project/problem resolution skills
* Good verbal, written, and presentation skills

* Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases and function-specific software
