Wimborne Minster Town Council is looking to appoint an organised, motivated Project Support Officer to provide essential support for the council's projects, priorities and day-to-day administrative operations during a period of significant growth.
The role will work closely with the Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk to support the delivery of key projects within our five-year Strategic Plan, including our Climate Action Plan, Town of Culture 2026, and other community initiatives. You will provide project coordination, research, data analysis, and general administrative support.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in business administration, project management or a related field, with experience in project coordination, preferably within public sector or local government settings. You will be an excellent organiser with strong IT and communication skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.

The Project Support Officer will work with councillors, staff and stakeholders to manage and deliver projects and provide administrative support.
Main responsibilities include project support and co-ordination, research and analysis, stakeholder engagement and other administration duties appropriate to the role.
Candidates should have relevant experience and skills relating to project management, local government, IT and stakeholder engagement.

About Us
Wimborne Minster Town Council serves an estimated population of 8,847 residents across approximately 3,886 households and covers an area of approximately 8.6 square miles. The Town Council operates within powers granted and regulated by statute, working alongside Parliament, Dorset Council, BCP and our neighbouring parish and town councils.
Our services and facilities include play areas, allotments, a cemetery, weddings and room hire at our Town Hall, CCTV and other street furniture, events, responding to consultations and planning applications, and supporting local groups via pour grant scheme.
The Town Council signed the Civility and Respect Pledge in October 2022, demonstrating our commitment to promoting positive, respectful behaviour across the sector. Our Strategic Plan 2024-2029 sets out our priorities over the next four years. Strong working relationships between 16 councillors and 10 staff are encouraged through regular engagement activities including internal quarterly workshop events, and ongoing training. Current projects include the delivery of a tourist information service; finishing our Climate Action Plan; delivering our exciting Wimborne Minster Town of Culture 2026 project, supporting a new youth service, repurposing our two telephone boxes in the Town Square, signing up as the East Dorset lead for the national Safer Spaces Scheme, our first Neighbourhood Plan process, and a review of Dorset Council assets relevant to the town under double devolution.
