Hays are pleased to be working with our Solihull-based client, who are on the lookout for an Interimmercial Accountant to join the organisation.
Your new role
1. Maintainmercial processes and procedures, embedding best practice and driving continuous improvement to maximise financial returns.
2. Analyse payment mechanisms, identify practical operational controls to mitigate risk, and review KPI performance to ensure exposure is effectively managed.
3. Collaborate with contract management teams to identify and develop opportunities for additional work.
4. Attend client meetings as required to addressmercial matters.
5. Administer and advise on main contract and subcontract terms, manage variations, and resolvemercial disputes as they arise.
6. Support contract managers in negotiating subcontractor appointments and agreeing standard terms.
7. Work closely with the Operations team to ensure systems and processes meet contractual requirements and accurately capture all billable events for additional and reactive works.
8. Monitor payment processes to ensurepliance with protocols, intervening where necessary to address overdue debt.
9. Minimise aged WIP and ensure invoicing remains current.
10. Support the development of lifecycle plans alongside contract managers.
11. Contribute to annual budgets and financial forecasts in partnership with the finance business partner and contract management team.
12. Manage monthly profit reporting and cost–value reconciliation for multiple large multisite contracts, ensuring accurate cost and revenue capture and reviewing results with operations.
13. Produce the monthly performance reporting dashboard.
14. Review contract performance, providing clear explanations for turnover, profit and margin variances.
15. Manage and report onmercial risks and opportunities.
16. Support the bid team by reviewing contractual documents and critically evaluating estimating proposals to ensure submissions are robust.
What you'll need to succeed
We are on the lookout for someone who has dealt with the accounting function of a similar scaled project. We are happy to review qualified and QBE candidate backgrounds. You will befortablemunicating with internal colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, ensuring sites/projects are running in-line withpany policy.
