An exciting opportunity has arisen as a result of investment from the Scottish Government to develop the Infant Mental Health (IMH) Service in NHS Forth Valley. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Psychological Therapist to work within the IMH sub-specialty for Children & Young Peoples Psychological Services. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to help shape the service to meet the needs of infants (aged 0-3) in Forth Valley.
NHS Forth Valleys Children & Young Peoples Psychological Services is a well established service, which is organised into sub-specialities with psychological leadership and specialist clinical supervision within each area of expertise. These services are operationally managed with Womens & Childrens Services in NHS Forth Valley, which supports working links with the Paediatric Psychology Team and with Adult Psychological Services colleagues in Perinatal, Neonatal and Maternity Mental Health Service.
The post holder will provide direct psychological assessment and intervention to infants. Thus, we are looking for an individual that is passionate about evidence based, person centred and collaborative practice.
The team is professionally governed by Psychological Services, NHS Forth Valley and organised into sub-specialities with psychological leadership and specialist clinical supervision within each area of expertise. We support children and young people aged from 0to 18 years and their carers/families and offer a range of highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions, which often includes multi-agency work with our partners. There are also good opportunities to get involved in quality improvement work.
NHS Forth Valley Psychology staff receive regular clinical and operational supervision and supportive line management, including job planning. As part of job planning, all staff are supported to develop and establish areas of specialist clinical interest and we have a varied in-house programme of clinical CPD. We also have good links with national bodies and the training courses, and offer placements to trainees from the Doctoral, EPP and MSc courses.
Candidates must possess a Mental Health Qualification (RMN, MHO, AHP, CAAP) as well training in two evidence based psychological interventions. Experience of working with children and young people with complex problems would be advantageous. Experience or training in relation to attachment based interventions and trauma would also be an advantage.
