Overview

Job Title: Lunchtime Assistant (Also known as Playworker)

Actual Annual Salary: £3,348

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £24,819 - £25,548 (CLF Grade Aii). Based on 37 hours per week.

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, Term Time Only plus insets

Hours: 5.83 hours per week

Additional role info: Working Pattern = Monday to Friday 1.17 Hours Per Day

Provisional Start Date: 27 November 2025

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Lunchtime Assistant, to join our supportive and talented team at Waycroft Academy in Bristol. We are a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our pupils learning.

As a Lunchtime Assistant, your duties will include setting up dining furniture and cutlery, cleaning during and after meals and supervising the children during their play, including applying first aid.

In this role you will be proactive and efficient, as well as able to foster positive "working friendships" with children and staff. You will need to be firm, fair and yet be able to reinforce our positive approach to developing excellent behaviour. If you have experience of supporting and caring for children and you are confident to guide and talk to groups of young children, we would like to hear from you.

Waycroft Primary Academy

Waycroft Academy is a two-form entry primary school, with nursery provisions for both two and three-year-olds, located in Stockwood, Bristol. We have extensive grounds that provide our children with many opportunities for outdoor learning. We are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum, as well as making sure that we support the personal development of every individual child. In our last Ofsted visit, inspectors said: 'Staff provide extensive pastoral support. Pupils have wide-ranging experiences to develop their character. Staff champion pupils physical and mental well-being.' Our school values of 'Ready, Respectful, Resilient' are important to all members of our community and the culture at our school is one in which children and staff look out for each other.
