The Respiratory Unit at Glenfield Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated (ST5 registrar/post-CCT) respiratory registrar/fellow to develop advanced skills in Interventional Respiratory Techniques/Pleural Disease. This post is available for 12 months with an August 2024 start date. The successful applicant will work with the Pleural/Lung Cancer Service as determined by the job description. The post will allow competency to be achieved in thoracic USS, EBUS-TBNA (linear/radial) bronchoscopy, cryobiopsy, medical thoracoscopy and indwelling pleural catheters at the very least as well as the running of a busy Pleural Clinic and exposure to other procedures (thermoplasty, valves, LVR MDT etc) offered by the department. The post holder will help with general respiratory ward duties on our pleural‑themed ward alongside the interventional work. The post is ideally suited to a senior trainee (ST5) who wishes to add further specialist clinical, management and potentially research skills to their portfolio prior to taking up a definitive Consultant post with an interest in Pleural Disease/Intervention/Lung Cancer but equally registrars in training who wish to increase their repertoire of procedural skills whilst consolidating their respiratory training. This post will be focussed on all the elements involved in the management of patients with pleural disease and lung cancer combined with some general respiratory service duties.
