Come and join a forward-thinking and driven Cardio-Respiratory and Surgical Therapy Team who constantly put patient care and your professional and personal development to the forefront. We are looking for a positive, proactive clinician with leadership and specialist skills in Cardio-Respiratory and Surgery to help us build a strong future for therapy. You will lead the team with support from your Professional Lead, while also maintaining your own manageable clinical caseload, providing advanced specialist assessments and interventions to the areas of acute cardio-respiratory and surgical patients including ICU and ACU. You will also provide clinical support to team members and students as well as assist in their training and development. You will play an integral role in service development and provide strong leadership to the integrated team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and assistants. We work closely with our wider multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes we can for our patients.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Cardio-Respiratory and Surgical Therapy Team with support from the Professional Lead; manage a small complex caseload while supervising/training team members and students.
* Provide advanced specialist assessments and interventions for acute cardio-respiratory and surgical patients, including ICU and ACU.
* Provide clinical support to team members and students and assist in their training and development.
* Play an integral role in service development and provide strong leadership to the integrated team (physiotherapists, occupational therapists and assistants) with a wide multidisciplinary team and community colleagues.
* Use advanced assessment skills to identify appropriate patients and to formulate, implement and evaluate individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans; maintain effective multidisciplinary communication.
* Lead on non-clinical duties such as team meetings, in-service development ideas, training/supervision of students, therapy assistant practitioners and Band 5/6 colleagues; including the use of formal appraisal documentation.
* Be actively involved in measurement and evaluation of work and current practices through evidence-based practice projects, audits and outcome measures; make recommendations for change.
* Ensure adequate staffing levels, absence management and wellbeing support for staff within the team.
Working pattern and environment
Core hours are 8.00am–4.00pm with flexibility; you will work as part of a seven-day roster or the physiotherapy on-call respiratory rota.
Onsite parking/car sharing is available.
About the department
The Integrated Therapy Department includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and assistants, with strong links to the wider multidisciplinary team and community colleagues. The department continues to develop through research and innovation with active involvement in CSP, RCOT, BOA and BGS conferences and a commitment to staff development and education.
Qualifications and experience
* Professional qualification as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
* Leadership and management experience; ability to balance clinical and non-clinical duties; strong prioritisation, organisation and time-management skills.
* Advanced communication skills to support multidisciplinary collaboration and effective dialogue with the team and wider colleagues.
* Experience in Cardio-Respiratory and Surgical therapy and involvement in service development and evidence-based practice; involvement in training and supervision of students and junior staff.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in audit/outcome measures.
