Associate Director – Sustainability and ESG Consulting
Lewis Davey is supporting a boutique provider in energy, sustainability, and ESG, serving commercial real estate, private equity, and corporate markets with consulting services. Their offerings include an ESG SaaS product, helping clients improve decision-making, integrate sustainability, and develop innovative solutions for assets.
The role involves advisory work across carbon, energy, and ESG management, with a focus on ESG legislation and tech-enabled solutions. Our client, established nearly a decade ago, is positioned between a start-up and a growth-stage company. This full-time, permanent role in the UK requires hybrid work in London, with candidates able to manage, mentor, and grow a team of consultants. Proven success in business development and client relationship management is essential.
Key project areas include:
1. Carbon footprints, Scope 3 assessments, reduction initiatives, SBTs, net zero strategies, TPT alignment
2. Advising on EU ESG legislation (TCFD, IFRS S2, ESOS, MEES, SECR, SFDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy)
3. Benchmarking (GRESB, CDP, UN PRI, SASB, GRI, IFRS S1, SDGs, BCorp)
4. Responsible investment programs
5. ESG strategies and impact investing (IFC Principles, SFDR Articles 8 & 9)
6. Stakeholder engagement and communication
7. Health & wellbeing (WELL, FitWel, UK/WGBC)
8. ESG policies and sustainability reporting
9. Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and ESG due diligence
The ideal candidate will have excellent client and team management skills, experience in building senior relationships, and be adept at workshops, presentations, and strategic insights. Mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative culture aligned with company values are crucial.
Experience in real estate is preferred, but applicants from private equity or corporate backgrounds will be considered. A deep understanding of ESG legislation, carbon accounting (Scopes 1-3), standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol), and familiarity with climate risk assessments, LCA software, and science-based targets are required.
