Overview
Practice Business Manager – Crewe Medical Centre Crewe Medical Centre is a large GP surgery located in North West Edinburgh. The practice is easily accessible by car and parking is available. We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic new Practice Manager to lead our friendly team, which includes five GP partners supported by three salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, Pharmacist, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, Link Worker, Mental Health Nurse and Administrative staff. We serve a diverse group of around 11,100 patients, including a higher than average number of people affected by deprivation.
Experience in a management position in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential, as we have an experienced administrative team to support day-to-day management. Personnel management and financial management/forecasting are key aspects of the role, so candidates must have experience and strong skills in these areas.
Crewe is an innovative, forward‑thinking practice with strong links to local health-related community organisations. We regularly seek new ways to meet the needs of our registered patients. The Practice is committed to teaching and offers GP specialist training as well as placements for FY2 doctors and medical students.
We aim to support work‑life balance for GPs and staff, and are flexible on working hours. Ideally, the role is 30 hours per week over at least 4 days, with a job share arrangement considered for the right candidates.
We would like to offer £50,000 per year pro rata (full time 37 hours).

Responsibilities
* Lead the practice’s administrative team and support staff to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
* Manage personnel and financial operations, including forecasting and budgeting.
* Collaborate with GP partners and clinical staff to support patient care delivery.
* Maintain compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.
* Engage with local health-related community organisations and support learning opportunities (GP specialist training, FY2 placements, medical student placements).
Qualifications
* Experience in a management position in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential.
* Strong skills in personnel management, financial management, and forecasting.
* Effective communication and leadership abilities; ability to work with a diverse team and patient population.
