Job overview
Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist at Parkview Clinic, Tier 4 Inpatient CAMHS Service. This is a full-time 10 PA post in inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate for our CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist post on a permanent contract. The suitable applicant will join our CAMHS In-patient service at Parkview Clinic in Moseley, Birmingham and will treat children and young people up to age 18. We have a new state-of-the-art 14-bed GAU and a refurbished 8-bed unit, plus a 12-bed Specialist Eating Disorder unit.
The post holder will provide senior specialist psychiatric input and medical leadership within an established multidisciplinary in-patient team, delivering psychiatric assessment and treatment for in-patients and their families, and contributing to psychiatric & medical risk management. The consultant will support the in-patient team, medical lead and other professional leads with quality improvement and clinical governance activities.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will hold overall clinical/medical responsibility and review patients at a frequency according to clinical need and risk.
Provide direct psychiatric services through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, care plan, and treatment formulation; guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
Provide psychiatric leadership to the multidisciplinary teams and clinical leadership in collaboration with team leaders.
Be the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
Be approved under Section 12 (2) and have Approved Clinician status of the Mental Health Act to undertake assessments and use the Act as appropriate.
Demonstrate flexibility to shape and respond to changing service requirements.
Participate in service and business planning for the Mental Health Service.

Person specification
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent (or within 6 months of eligibility for CCT)
* Current GMC registration (or eligible for full GMC registration at time of appointment)
* Wide range of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry including Tier 4 experience
* GMC Licence to practise
* Approval (or eligible for approval) under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act
* Eligible to work in the UK
* Provision of high-quality mental health services, as trainee or consultant
* Experience in child & adolescent psychiatry and working with multidisciplinary teams
* Experience of assessment, treatment and medical monitoring of patients and families
* Ability to build strong relationships within a complex referral system; strong teamwork and communication
* Commitment to personal and professional development; ability to cope with urgent clinical situations and change
* Ability to prioritise clinically and managerially; work within MHA duties including Place of Safety and Section 136
* Experience with complex mental disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, emotional trauma and emerging personality disorders
