Your new company We are collaborating with a highly reputable Tier 1 highways contractor seeking summer staff to assist in assessing damage to Ash trees across Scotland. This annual survey focusses on the impact of Ash Dieback, a disease first recorded in the UK in 2012, and is conducted while the trees are in leaf. Y our new role As a temporary summer staff member, you will be split into teams of 2-3 and provided with a company van to travel to planned sites. The position runs from the end of May until late August, with working hours varying based on daylight. Your responsibilities will include: Inspecting ash trees for signs of Ash Dieback disease on trunk roads in either the North East or South West of Scotland. Conducting visual inspections to determine if Ash Dieback infection has spread to the area. Logging any signs of danger to traffic from parts of the tree falling due to infection exposure. Taking photos of affected areas on the tree. Reporting findings using tracking software. What you'll need to succeed Pursuing or holding a degree in Biology, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences or similar field. Ability to work in teams and travel across Scotland. Attention to detail and good observational skills. Physical fitness, enough to walk up to 6 hours per day. Technology savvy.
